Joe Biden’s dangerous contempt for the Senate

Joe Biden’s deep familiarity with the U.S. Senate has evidently bred contempt for its constitutional role as the quality-control mechanism for an international agreement with our enemies in Iran.

For one thing, the Biden administration is not being transparent about the magnitude of the concessions it is making to the mullahs, including according to published reports giving them access to a further $20 billion. For another, the accord is not even being reduced to writing so as to avoid having to submit it to the Senate for approval as required by law.

Worse yet, such travesties are transpiring despite the Iranian regime’s increasing belligerence, including attacking commercial vessels in the Persian Gulf and deploying drone and missile threats to U.S. naval assets defending those ships.

This is no time to be rewarding Iranian belligerence – or preventing the Senate from precluding such appeasement.
