There is something deeply disturbing about the fact that President Obama chose a foreign venue to announce that he is going to eliminate one-third of what’s left of America’s aging nuclear arsenal.  It was almost a throw-away applause line in his speech yesterday on the eastern side of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz observed last night that Mr. Obama was able to make his address there thanks to the nuclear deterrent that Ronald Reagan modernized and used to back up his strategy for taking down the Soviet Union – and the monstrous wall that long divided Germany’s capital.

Mr. Obama may fancy himself a “citizen of the world.”  But he is putting citizens of this constitutional republic at risk with his disastrous hollowing out of our national security capabilities.
