Americans awoke today to a warning from North Korean that more UN sanctions would result in a preemptive nuclear strike on the United States.

North Korea is, of course, a poor and backwards nation.  Could it be capable of a devastating attack on what we continue to be told is the world’s only superpower?  Unfortunately, the answer is yes.  Pyongyang has nuclear weapons, some of which may be small enough to put aboard a ballistic missile.  It has, at a minimum, short-range missiles that could be employed to attack us if brought close to our shores aboard a tramp steamer.

And using such capabilities to launch an electro-magnetic pulse attack could devastate this country’s electrical grid and society.  This is no time for President Obama to cut our nuclear deterrent and our missile defenses.
