Barack Obama signaled yesterday that he would persist in the sorts of policies American voters widely repudiated on Tuesday. Preeminent among them was his stated intention to grant an unconstitutional amnesty to millions of illegal aliens before year’s end.

Unfortunately, top Republicans – like Mitt Romney, Senator Mitch McConnell, House Speaker John Boehner and RNC Chairman Reince Priebus have lately conveyed the impression that the President can expect to be enabled by the GOP, not opposed, if he does go for it on amnesty.

Were the Republicans actually to do this, they will face two certain repercussions: the alienation of their base and demographic suicide as illegal aliens become Democratic voters.

America has spoken. Congressional Republicans dare not ignore the voters, lest their victory this week prove to be short-lived, and terminal.
