Obama’s Provocative Unreliability

President Obama held a summit yesterday with what he would call the “JV team” of the Gulf Cooperation Council. Most of the leaders of the GCC’s six Arab states skipped the meeting in a none-too-subtle signal of their contempt for the host and their anger at his embrace of their mortal enemy: Iran.

Evidently seeking to allay his guests’ grave concerns about Iranian aggression, the President solemnly declared, “The United States keeps our commitments.” But how’s this for a commitment: “In the event…or the threat of such aggression, the United States stands ready to work with our GCC partners to urgently determine what actions may be appropriate using the means at our collective disposal including collective use of military force.”

Any wonder the Saudis are going nuclear, too?
