Last Friday, the House of Representatives narrowly approved so-called “fast-track authority.” This bill will allow President Obama to cut essentially any so-called “trade deal” he wants to, secure in the knowledge that the so-called co-equal branch of government known as Congress will surely give its approval.

Before that vote, however, a large, bipartisan majority of House members rejected another bill that purports to protect American workers against the damage many of them experience from so-called “free trade” deals.

Without this so-called Trade Adjustment Act, the massive, secret and sovereignty-sapping agreement with Pacific nations that Obama wants to blow through Congress may come a cropper. So legislators are apparently going to be asked shortly to reconsider their vote.

The American people would rightly call approving so-called “Obamatrade” that way a disastrous mistake.
