Communist China’s dictator, Xi Jingpeng, has begun a state visit to the United States by holding meetings with American companies anxious to do business with his country. So anxious, it seems, they are willing to look the other way at what one observer has called Beijing’s practice of extorting what they can’t steal.

Next stop is the White House, where Xi evidently has the same basic play in mind. Having already stolen untold millions of files containing the personal information, clearances and even fingerprints of U.S. government employees, the Chinese will now extort Barack Obama into acceding to a new agreement purportedly governing cyberwarfare.

As with the private sector, Obama is a willing participant in this fraud – an accord that surely will, in practice, be used to bind the United States, but not the Chinese.

Don’t go there.
