Don’t Reward Russo-Iranian Aggression in Syria
One might have been forgiven for thinking that the negative effects of President Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran would take some time to begin manifesting themselves in the Middle East.
The past few days’ developments in Syria, however, offer a foretaste of what’s ahead.
Russia’s deployed military forces to Syria in support of that country’s dictator, Bashir Assad – Moscow’s longtime ally and Iran’s. They have set up a joint command center in our erstwhile Iraqi protectorate and begun combat operations against Assad’s opponents, starting with targets not associated with the Islamic State.
Then, yesterday, the Kremlin demanded a halt to U.S. and allied air attacks against the IS Caliphate.
In other words, even before Iran gets the Obamabomb deal’s $150 billion, Tehran and its friends are emboldened, on the march and more dangerous than ever.
Stop the deal.
