Following North Korea’s latest nuclear weapon and ballistic missile tests, the UN Security Council has adopted still more sanctions on the country’s despotic regime. They are described as more punitive than those previously in place.

One clue that these sanctions won’t amount to much, however, is that the Chinese aren’t vetoing them. After all, there would be no North Korea were Beijing not propping it up. And there will be no effective sanctions if Communist China doesn’t enforce them.

Worse yet, UN Ambassador Samantha Power says the point is to get back to negotiations to disarm North Korea. That would presumably mean another legacy for President Obama that would presumably do for this dangerous government what he has just done for its strategic ally, Iran: Namely, economic life-support in exchange for more fraudulent commitments that will leave our enemies armed and dangerous.
