S.O.S. for the US Navy
Barack Obama has reduced the U.S. Navy to its smallest size since before World War I. He has also allowed our sailors to be subjected to serial, provocative humiliations by adversaries around the world. Taken together, you have a formula for disaster.
For example, the Iranians have fired missiles in close proximity to Navy warships. They then actually seized two of them.
Chinese threats to attack American naval forces operating in international airspace and waters have gone unanswered, thanks to Team Obama spurning our top Pacific commander’s warnings that we must resist, before it’s too late.
This week, Russian jets simulated twenty attacks on a U.S. destroyer in the Baltic Sea. The Pentagon simply complained about the perpetrators’ “lack of professionalism.”
Unless deterred, such provocations will eventually precipitate conflicts. If that’s to be avoided, we must impose real costs now.
