Investigate Obama’s Appeal for Russian Help with his Reelection

On Tuesday, a Republican congressman finally asked questions that could shed light on an actual instance of American collusion with Russia to interfere in a presidential election.

Ohio Rep. Brad Wenstrup broadened the focus of the House Intelligence Committee’s investigation into whether alleged Russian influence operations were abetted by Trump campaign personnel. He did so by asking former CIA Director John Brennan about President Obama’s request for Vladimir Putin to give him “space” in the 2012 election – after which he would have “more flexibility.”

When Dr. Wenstrup asked whether such a comment raised a “red flag” concerning a prominent U.S. citizen and Russia’s “playbook” for interfering with and subverting our elections, Brennan refused, in his words, “to recognize that question.”

Congress must now recognize the imperative of pursuing such a line of questioning – and require John Brennan, among others, to answer it.
