A Successful Test Underscores the Need for a Robust Missile Defense

The Pentagon just successfully tested the nation’s only missile defense system designed to destroy the kind of intercontinental ballistic missiles with which North Korea hopes soon to threaten us.

That’s the good news. The bad news is that the missile threats facing America are intensifying by the day, and not just from the psychopathic regime of North Korea’s despot, Kim Jong-Un. Russian and Chinese nuclear forces are incorporating hypersonic and maneuvering warheads expressly for the purpose of defeating our limited anti-missile systems.

Worse yet, it is a matter of time before the North Koreans and, for that matter, the Iranians gain access to such technologies.

Against such eventualities, Congress last year made it the law of the land that America field a robust defensive shield that can protect our country and its people against hypersonic and maneuvering weapons. We need it now.
