Abu Ghaith
We just learned of a small, but potentially significant, victory in the war against our jihadist enemies. Unfortunately, the full benefits of that victory may be lost due to the Obama administration’s ideologically driven handling of Osama bin Laden’s son-in-law.
Sulaiman Abu Ghaith was the chief propagandist for al Qaeda and a member of its management council. He would know a lot about the organization’s workings, its personnel and, not least, its ties to Iran where Abu Ghaith was given safe haven for a decade.
By refusing to take him to Guantanamo Bay, to interrogate him there and subject him to military tribunal rather than civil trial in New York, Team Obama may have forfeited the chance to elicit such information and make the most of this small – and possibly fleeting victory.
