In case you weren’t paying attention, here’s a news flash: The evidence that our electrical grid is vulnerable to disruption or destruction by our enemies is now becoming impossible to ignore.

For example, in the wake of North Korea’s cyber attack on Sony Pictures, we are being told that the complex system that distributes electric power around the United States could be next. Those warnings are all the more alarming after someone penetrated the computers of the company that runs South Korea’s nuclear power plants. And China, Russia and Iran have done the same with our grid control systems.

Unfortunately, Congress left town without mandating a plan to protect the grid against threats such as these. President Obama is vacationing. And the rest of us are reduced to hoping nothing bad will happen.

Are you feeling lucky?
