Jamal Ware
Jamal D. Ware served as the first-ever National Security Advisor for the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) and as a Senior Advisor to the Chairman and President of EXIM. He was responsible for providing counsel to the Chairman on EXIM’s classified matters, foreign affairs, and economic diplomacy. He also directed EXIM’s engagement with the National Security Council (NSC) and the NSC-led policy coordination process and worked with EXIM’s deal teams to support opportunities that bolstered strategic U.S. interests and partnerships abroad.
Jamal previously served as Senior Advisor and Director of the National Security Team for the House Committee on Homeland Security and as Communications Director for the House Select Committee on Benghazi. He also served as a Subject Matter Expert and consultant for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI).
Before joining ODNI, he served as a Professional Staff Member on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI), where he was the designee for Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO), and responsible for SSCI oversight of defense intelligence matters and the budget of the Defense Intelligence Agency. He also served on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, where he was a Senior Advisor to the Committee’s Chairman and Ranking Member, and responsible for the budget and oversight of ODNI.
In addition to his federal service, Jamal has worked for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Michigan Legislature, and a government consulting firm.
Jamal is a graduate of Michigan State University’s James Madison College where he earned a degree in Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy.
Jamal is a recipient of the EXIM Meritorious Service Award.
