CCP infiltration of the Federal Reserve shows America is unprepared
More and more Americans are waking up to the fact that the People’s Republic of China, which is ruled by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), is not merely a rival or competitor, but an outright enemy of America.
Unfortunately, this realization has only come along recently after China has conducted decades of influence operations, espionage, theft and outright sabotage aimed at America and Americans. Even more unfortunately, many of those who remain in denial about China’s designs and ambitions are fixtures in our halls of government.
This was once again brought home this week with the revelation that the Chinese have been conducting influence and infiltration operations directed at the US Federal Reserve, one of America’s most powerful and controversial institutions.According to the Wall Street Journal, over a period of ten years Federal Reserve employees were offered inducements by China for non-public economic data, including cash payments. In one case, an economist traveling in China was threatened with jail unless he provided the Chinese government with information. Several Federal Reserve employees tied to China are still collecting a paycheck from taxpayers, despite these revelations.
The Federal Reserve operation is instructive because most people wouldn’t necessarily think of it as a target for infiltration and nefarious foreign influence. But the actual staff of the Federal Reserve should know better.
This is the kind of corruption that has allowed the Chinese to go from being a “developing” nation 30 years ago to an aggressive expansionist power with a primary aim of overtaking and replacing the USA as the world leader.
This comes on the heels of the latest revelations from the FBI that Chinese tech companies, such as Huawei have been installing components in communications infrastructure in this country that could disrupt vital military communications. Other Chinese entities have been buying up land in the US, adjacent to US military bases.
What all this shows is that the Chinese are conducting a “full court press.” As outlined in a report entitled Unrestricted Warfare, published by their equivalent of the US Army War College years ago, there is no aspect of American life that the Chinese regime will not exploit or target to gain an advantage and ultimately defeat us. This means that no sector of American life can be comfortable in assuming it is not a target for the same kind of influence campaign with which the Federal Reserve was targeted.
It is past time for America to awake from its slumber and recognize the threat posed by China. We should start by holding our government and elected officials accountable.
