It Was, and Is, Jihadist Genocide
One hundred years ago today, jihad was unleashed on the Armenian and other Christians of the Ottoman Empire. By some estimates, as many as 1.5 million people were murdered.
The successor government of Muslim Turkey basically denies this reality and threatens those who point it out. In deference to the Islamic supremacist sensibilities of the regime of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President Obama evidently will not publicly and forthrightly do as other Western leaders have done – namely, denounce this massacre as genocide.
This submissive approach is meant as a diplomatic accommodation. In the eyes of the jihadists, however, it is a flashing green light to repeat in our time the mass murder of Christians around the world.
Let’s help stop today’s genocide by finally recognizing that of a century ago.
