It’s official, kind of. The Islamic State is, according to Secretary of State John Kerry, “responsible for genocide against groups in areas under its control.” The victims would be Christians, Yazidis and other minorities.

But, Kerry qualified the finding called for on Monday by a rare, unanimous vote in the House of Representatives, saying he is “neither judge nor prosecutor nor jury with respect to the allegations.”

Sounds like another, classic John Kerry bait-and-switch: The United States condemns the perpetrators of mass murders, torture, rape, enslavement, theft and beheading of Christians. But, all other things being equal, it won’t actually do anything effective to stop it.

That would be a travesty. It would betray followers of Christ and other victims of the genocide now underway. Worse yet, the Obama administration would embolden the jihadists to do still worse, over there and here.
