It’s Not Over Yet! Iran’s 46-year war against the U.S. and Israel is far from over

The fighting that erupted directly between Israel and Iran on June 13 is not the beginning of a war that lasted 12 days, but the culmination of a war that extends far beyond Israel. It is a war initiated and waged for over four decades by an Iranian regime animated by its attempt to destroy non-Islamic civilization and conquer it. The regime grasps that America as the great power and Israel as the preeminent regional power anchored to the West stand alone are able to stop it. The Iranian regime cannot truly compromise, let alone back down from this struggle because its twilight struggle to the death with the West is the essence of the regime and not simply an attribute of it. What Israel accomplished in these 12 days in June and the two years preceding was not only to set Iran’s ambitions far back, but also to finally establish the precedent that the West now finally answers that 46-year war that Iran has waged and which already claimed thousands of Americans and Israelis. And in doing so, Israel also exposed the deep vulnerabilities of the regime and a path toward victory over it.
