This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.

As Senators postured yesterday in connection with Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination over the future of the Supreme Court, in a nearby hearing room a sober briefing was given about the future of the nation’s security.

Two undersecretaries of defense and a three-star general described the alarming growth in ballistic and hypersonic missile threats against this country. They warned not only North Korea and Iran pose potentially existential dangers that must be countered.  So, too, do the rapidly accelerating nuclear and missile build-ups of Russia and China.

Fortunately, these civilian and military leaders discussed the bipartisan mandate they now have to field space-based sensors and anti-missile defenses to defeat such enemy designs. That’s a most welcome – and necessary – departure from past, foolish notions that space is and must be kept “pristeen” and the Russians and Chinese allowed to threaten us with impunity.

This is Frank Gaffney.
