Killers Will Break Gun Control Laws, Too, So Protect Schools
After the latest, murderous attack on a school, victims, parents and politicians are demanding that “something” be done to make sure this is the last mass shooting. President Trump, who has been singled out for highly charged criticism for his past support for the 2nd Amendment, is in damage-control mode.
He’ll be holding “listening sessions” this week. If, as seems predictable, these events merely turn out to be platforms for denouncing him and gun rights, the pressure to ban certain weapons will only grow.
The question must be asked: If it is already illegal to trespass in a school and shoot children there, why does anyone think that individuals willing to break such laws wouldn’t violate one prohibiting them from having the weapon with which to do it?
