President Donald Trump will be in Ankara, Turkey, on July 7 and 8 to attend the NATO summit. Trump will attend meetings on the sidelines with some leaders as they are expected to review progress on the alliance’s defense spending commitments and burden-sharing goals.
Grant Newsham, retired U.S. Marine Colonel and former U.S. diplomat, as well as senior fellow at the Center for Security Policy and author of the book “When China Attacks,” joins NTD to weigh in. He told NTD that NATO has been consistently unable to meet its commitments, and its future is uncertain if its members don’t rise up to defend themselves.
