In a joint press appearance at the UN yesterday, President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu extolled the strong partnership they have forged. As evidence, they cited in particular Mr. Trump’s courageous decision to relocate the U.S. embassy to Israel’s capital, Jerusalem.

Fortunately for both nations, the two leaders have resuscitated this strategic relationship from the damage done to it during the Obama years just in time to contend with the threat they face from a jihadist and incipiently nuclear-armed Iran.

An ominous pall was cast over the fellowship, however, when President Trump expressed enthusiasm for a Palestinian state and a “big” concession from Israel to reciprocate for his moving the embassy.

The only hope for a real and enduring peace – and grounds for concessions by Israelis – is if their enemies demonstrably and irreversibly abandon any ambition to destroy the Jewish State.
