Obama’s Revised Plan for Losing Afghanistan
It would seem that Barack Obama has learned that you can’t end a war by unilaterally declaring it over. The enemy, as they say, gets a vote.
But if the President’s announcement yesterday that he has abandoned his announced plan to do in Afghanistan what he did with such disastrous effects in Iraq – namely, cut and run – is welcome, its limitations may simply delay another avoidable U.S. defeat.
Unless the American troops that will be kept in Afghanistan are given a coherent mission and appropriate rules of engagement, it will be far worse than a waste of national treasure. They will be sitting ducks, targeted by the Taliban, al Qaeda, Islamic State and other jihadists who have been encouraged by Team Obama’s policies to believe victory is inevitable.
The global jihad must be defeated, or we will be.
