Organization of the Islamic Cooperation Retweets CSP Article
On Friday, 26 September 2014, the Center for Security Policy (CSP) published an article at its website about the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary General Iyad Amin Madani’s recent visit to Chicago where he issued a firm warning against criticism of Islam. A day later, a Twitter user named Benjamin Hughes, who follows the OIC on Twitter, posted the article. His Tweet was subsequently re-tweeted by the OIC to its 3,700+ followers the next day, 27 September 2014.
The following is a screenshot capture of the official Twitter account for the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation showing this Re-tweet.
The second captured screenshot is a close up of the actual Tweet from Mr. Hughes. Apparently, the OIC, in its eagerness to show Madani mingling with guests at the 17 September American Islamic College-sponsored event at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, failed to read through the contents of the actual article which described Madani’s message in rather less laudatory terms than the OIC itself might have done.
While it is not known to how many additional thousands the original Hughes Tweet – including hash tag for President Barack Obama – may have been Re-Tweeted in subsequent hours and days, CSP is grateful to the OIC for its assistance in disseminating the word about the OIC and Madani’s Istanbul Process agenda to restrict free speech about Islam.
