He claims "America, under Bush, is a danger to the world." He compares President Bush to the Nazis. He’s spent millions to legalize illegal drugs.

Now he’s bankrolling an effort that will weaken the war against the terrorists.

He’s billionaire George "Just-how-did-he-get-his-initial-capital-anyway" Soros, and he’s pulling out all the stops to defeat President Bush, even, apparently, if it means undermining the war on terrorism in the process.

Soros is tapping the ideas of Morton Halperin – the architect of the 1970s anti-intelligence campaign and arguably the single individual most responsible for stripping the United States of its domestic security and foreign intelligence operational capabilities.

Soros’ extremist rhetoric is providing political cover to others, and is polarizing the public debate on how best to destroy the terrorist threat. By labeling President Bush as part of the problem, he is going to make it harder for Democrats to work with the president toward a solution during this election cycle.

And that plays into the hands of the terrorist enemy.

It also places Senator Jay Rockefeller’s plan to abuse the Senate Intelligence Committee into greater context.

Maybe Senate Republican leaders should quit acting like members of the Stupid Party and go on the offensive once in a while. Now would be nice.
