Three things are clear following North Korean hackers’ cyber attack on Sony Pictures over its new film, “The Interview.”

First, that country’s despotic ruler, Kim Jong-Un, has no sense of humor – especially when he’s the butt of the joke.

Second, even desperately poor Third World countries now have access to asymmetric warfare techniques that enable them to threaten – or even to attack – the assets of the most powerful of nations.

And third, disclosing embarrassing emails and divulging proprietary information is nothing compared to what such cyber war can inflict. We now are on notice that Russia, China and Iran – all allies and enablers of North Korea –have the ability to penetrate, manipulate and possibly destroy our electric grid.

Protecting our critical infrastructure and punishing North Korea should be two of our top priorities.
