Restore the U.S. Deterrent to Protect ‘World Peace’

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

It’s obvious Barack Obama allowed hostile powers to intensify the threats they pose to us.  North Korea, China and Russia have aggressively built up their capabilities to attack this country.  And Iran’s ambitions have actually been underwritten.

Less evident is what President Obama did to compound such dangers:  He made it U.S. policy to rid the world of nuclear weapons, starting with ours.

Consequently, our ability to deter nuclear attacks has been significantly diminished as long-deferred modernization of our strategic arsenal was delayed or simply cancelled. The industrial base required to maintain and upgrade that arsenal has atrophied egregiously. And we have left few experienced scientists and engineers.

President Trump seems determined to reverse all this.  Vice President Pence correctly says that, “There’s no greater force for world peace than the U.S. nuclear arsenal.” We must bend every effort to restoring it.
