Quick: What is the single most important public policy issue of our time? Everyone, of course, has a different answer.

I believe there is only one correct one, though. Because if this one is not sorted out promptly and successfully, none of the rest will matter.

I am talking about the vulnerability of America’s electric grid. If it ceases to operate over large parts of this country for protracted periods, we would face a nation-ending catastrophe: no water, food, medicine, transportation, communications, finance, etc.

Congressional testimony yesterday indicates our enemies understand this reality far better than most of us. They have plans and the capability to take down the grid.

We know how to secure our electrical grid and can do so cost-effectively. We just need to start doing it.
