Senior Military Leaders Oppose the Obamabomb Deal
Strikingly absent from the Obamabomb debate to date has been the assessment of senior military leaders. They were largely excluded from the negotiations and their advice, if sought at all, was seemingly mostly ignored.
Instead, we have largely heard from diplomats, arms control enthusiasts, Team Obama’s political operatives and other interested parties. Until now.
Yesterday, more than 200 retired admirals and generals sent a letter to the bipartisan congressional leadership offering their professional judgment of this accord. They warned, “It would threaten the national security and vital interests of the United States and, therefore, should be disapproved by the Congress.”
Democrats tempted to put party loyalty before their sworn duty to the country must hear – and heed – the critical advice from these former military leaders, advice that those still serving have been unwilling, or unable, to provide.
