Statement by Center for Security Policy President Fred Fleitz on the Devastating Fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris
The Center for Security Policy offers its condolences to the people of Paris for the devastating fire that struck Notre Dame Cathedral yesterday. The extensive damage to this iconic 800-year old Catholic cathedral is a huge loss for France and the world.
According to French authorities, the fire likely was caused by renovation being conducted in the cathedral. Although there are justifiable concerns, given a recent rash of church burnings in France, that this fire may have been caused by arson, the Center accepts the French government’s assessment on the cause of the fire unless credible information surfaces indicating another causes.
