Thank Heavens, George Selim Has Left the Government

Yesterday, a government official long involved with “Muslim outreach” discussed with National Public Radio his reasons for quitting the Trump administration last week.  His answer to one particular question explained why we should all be glad George Selim has left the Homeland Security Department.

When asked, “Were there times when you gave dangerous groups a seat at the table?” Selim answered, “Absolutely not.”

It tells you everything you need to know about Selim’s role and the U.S. government’s outreach to Muslims that he thinks the Council on American Islamic Relations (better known as CAIR) is not a “dangerous group.” After all, in 2012, he declared that federal departments and agencies had held “hundreds of meetings” with CAIR.

But CAIR was founded by Hamas, a terrorist organization. Anyone who thinks that’s a non-dangerous group should “absolutely not” be in the federal government.
