Thank You, Sen. Johnson
Last week, Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin rendered incalculably important public service — twice. First, the Senate Homeland Security Committee chairman conducted a hearing about the vulnerability of the U.S. electric grid to attack from Iran or other enemies or even naturally occurring solar storms.
The hearing established that the danger is real and could destroy our country. It made the case powerfully for the Critical Infrastructure Protection Act, recently approved by the House counterpart to Sen. Johnson’s committee.
Armed with this evidence, Sen. Johnson then asked Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz about these threats to our electric grid. Moniz – who was testifying on behalf of the flawed Obamabomb deal with Iran that he helped negotiate – seemed blasé about them.
Fortunately, Sen. Johnson isn’t. Let’s pray his leadership will help end this vulnerability.
