Today on Secure Freedom Radio, they broadcasted an interview Frank Gaffney did with Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, founder and president of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy.

Jasser is a prominent figure in the Muslim Reform Movement which believes in secular governance, human rights and free speech. They oppose violent Jihad and reject any form of the Islamic State.

Gaffney applauded Jasser’s reasoned approach to his faith but asked if he faces pushback as a result. Jasser confirmed that he and others in his movement frequently come under attack from CAIR and other Muslim advocacy groups.

Gaffney asked Jasser to describe the influence of the Muslim Brotherhood in America. He responded:

“That network has provided control of the ideas perpetuated in the sermons of many of the pulpits of mosques and these organizations that claim control of the voice of Muslims, so as a result, by the handshake of the clerics in America, they say they can only speak for Islam and we don’t have a voice.”

Gaffney pointed out that members of Jasser’s movement have been ignored by the Obama administration which instead seeks counsel from Muslims under control of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Jasser described this as the “bigotry of low expectations” and used the example of Obama’s recent visit to a mosque.  Why did he choose the Islamic Society of Baltimore? Jasser says it’s one of the most fundamentalist mosques which is against everything Obama supposedly stands for.

In another segment, also recorded at CPAC, Gaffney spoke to Congressman Steve King of Iowa.

King suggested to Gaffney that there are many members of congress who don’t grasp the big picture when it comes to national security and the cultural aspects of that issue. Gaffney asked King if there’s any remedy for this to which King responded:

“I would say that politics is downstream from culture… pay attention to national security, watch the global events that are going on, see how that threatens us, watch our border… and weigh in with your member of congress. Weigh in at the local level, too… Don’t ever think your voice doesn’t matter, it always matters.”

Gaffney also asked King about a recent initiative to get the State Department to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization. King affirmed his support for the effort and reminded listeners that even the Egyptian people wanted nothing to do with the Muslim Brotherhood and quickly ousted them when they came to power there in recent years.
