This week, President Obama has expressed an enthusiasm for the Jewish State not evident in his first term.  If authentic, what might be called a conversion on the road to Jerusalem would be most welcome.

Yet, a certain cynicism about the sincerity of Mr. Obama’s new-found embrace of Israel seems warranted.  Notably, he engaged in a highly manipulative effort yesterday to foment pressure on Prime Minister Netanyahu to make territorial and other concessions by speaking over his head to a carefully selected group of Israeli students.

The President urged them to “look at the world through [the] eyes” of their Palestinian counterparts.  This appeal is seductive, but ignores a show-stopping reality:  Those Palestinian kids have been indoctrinated from birth to see the only acceptable solution as a Middle East without Israel.
