The (Worst) Deal of the Century
Today on Secure Freedom Radio, Jim Hanson, the Executive Vice President of the Center for Security Policy – who’s also a former U.S. Army Green Beret – spoke to Fred Fleitz, the Senior Vice President at the Center for Security Policy – who’s also a former CIA analyst.
The main topic of their discussion was Obama’s awful Iran deal. Fleitz said Iran has been enjoying their new economic freedom:
“We know that Iran has been going on a shopping spree in Europe, trying to spend its sanctions relief, the administration tried to play off how much sanction relief Iran would receive. They were saying it would be $50 billion dollars when experts were saying it would be $100 to $150 billion, however the Treasury Department yesterday said it in fact would be $100 billion dollars. The State Department tried to depict this as a rounding error.”
Only in the federal government can such a rounding error occur.
Hanson asked Fleitz if there’s anything that can be done to roll back this awful deal but Fleitz pointed out that Democrats are going to do whatever they can to protect this as part of Obama’s legacy. Which brings us to the election in November.
Fleitz says that while the Iran Deal hasn’t come up in the Democratic primary debates, it will surely come up in the general election debates and that if Hillary Clinton is the nominee, she is going to have to answer some difficult questions about this, considering that she has bragged about laying the foundation for the deal.
At the tail end of the discussion, Hanson brought up the upcoming Syrian peace talks and asked Fleitz if there’s any good which can come from them. Fleitz called the talks a “fiasco” and pointed out that many of the groups included in the talks refuse to deal with each other. This is an attempt by the Obama administration to “look like it’s doing something” although it could make matters worse.
Even if Assad were to step down in Syria, no one knows what would happen next. ISIS or another group could step in to fill the void.
“I’m really concerned about if the administration actually…if this dog actually caught this car, what will happen?” Fleitz said.
