USA Today’s Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page opined on Sunday that “the Ebola virus and the threat from ISIS are feeding into a sense that Americans have that the world is not only a dangerous place, but the government is not competent to handle them.” Unfortunately, they’re right.

With each passing day, the blithe official assurances that we’ll be able to manage any Ebola outbreak here are being disproven. And we are hearing alarming reports that some Islamic State operatives have been apprehended coming across our border, suggesting that many more have gotten in already.

The 2014 elections are an opportunity for corrective action. Will we entrust our government to people who are actually committed to their oath of office – namely, to defend our Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic?
