Why Are the Mullahs Laughing?

Tomorrow, the U.S. Senate is set to conduct institutional suicide. Evidently, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will deliver sufficient GOP votes to ensure that the Senate’s constitutional role in treaty-making is eviscerated – not only in the present case of a nuclear deal with Iran, but for any agreement this or future presidents might negotiate going forward.

Consequently, Barack Obama will be free to make whatever accord he wants with the Iranians – no matter how bad it is for our national security. Worse yet, he will be able to claim that Congress has blessed his recklessness.
