We have much to worry about at the moment, and it is understandable that we generally tune out most such problems.  That’s especially true of those we think we can’t minimize.

Few such problems are as devastating as the possibility of protracted disruptions of the electrical grid upon which our economy, our society, indeed our lives critically depend.  Whether caused by enemies using nuclear or other weapons or by geomagnetic storms emanating from the sun, this threat of catastrophic damage from electromagnetic pulse (or EMP) is very real – and simply cannot be ignored.

Fortunately, it is also something we can fix.  That’s the object of the SHIELD Act, H.R. 2417.  Please: Urge the folks who represent you in Washington to get behind it, and ensure we can keep America’s lights on.
