Congress is trying today to cobble together legislation regarding the invasion of our southern border. Lawmakers badly want to get out of town for a lengthy August recess and the legislation they are being asked to approve is looking pretty bad:

Bad for us taxpayers.

Bad for the effort to deal with tens of thousands of alien children and others President Obama has induced to come here illegally in search of amnesty.

And bad for the prospects of keeping yet more from coming across our still-open border.

Throwing hundreds of millions of dollars, let alone billions of them, at a problem like this without eliminating the magnet of amnesty – both that President Obama has unilaterally engineered to date and that he has in prospect – is worse than irresponsible. It’s absolutely reckless.
