2006 Sacred Honor Award: David Luke III
On June 14, the Center held its 4th Annual Regents Dinner in New York and honored World War II Marine combat aviator and former Chairman of Westvaco Corporation David L. Luke III.
Upon receiving the Center’s “Sacred Honor” Award – a tribute to those who give their all to the cause of freedom – Mr. Luke spoke movingly about the contrast between the unified and steadfast national response to totalitarian ideologies and suicide bombers (“kamikazes”) in WWII and the divisive and defeatist attitude evident in some quarters today. He closed by urging Americans to be steadfast in their resolve.
