2013 Mightier Pen Award: Honoring Diana West

On Wednesday, November 20^th, the Center for Security Policy honored Diana West with the 2013 Mightier Pen Award at a luncheon at the Union League Club in New York City.

Ms. West is a nationally syndicated columnist and author of The Death of the Grown-up: How America’s Arrested Development Is Bringing Down Western Civilization, co-author of Shariah: The Threat to America, and most recently author of American Betrayal: The Secret Assault on Our Nation’s Character.

In it, she chronicles a lost history of American leaders who shielded overlapping Communist conspiracies against the investigators, politicians, defectors, and others (including Senator Joseph McCarthy) who tried to tell the American people the truth. West unapologetically focuses on our World War II–Cold War deal with the devil in which America surrendered her principles in exchange for a series of Big Lies whose preservation soon became the basis of our leaders’ own self-preservation.

Ms. West was introduced by M. Stanton Evans; an author, journalist and a pivotal figure in the history of the American conservative movement.  He is the author of eight books, including Blacklisted by History: The Untold Story of Senator Joe McCarthy and His Fight Against America’s Enemies (2007) and Stalin’s Secret Agents: The Subversion of Roosevelt’s Government (2012), with Herbert Romerstein.

Ms. West joins an illustrious group of authors, journalists and essayists who have received this recognition for their commitment to a robust national security and their efforts to educate our countrymen and women about the need to practice the philosophy President Reagan called “peace through strength.”  Previous recipients include: Mark Helprin, Charles Krauthammer, Roger Ailes, William F. Buckley, Jr., A.M. Rosenthal, Andrew C. McCarthy, Norman Podhoretz, Claudia Rosett, and Monica Crowley.
