North Korea restarts nuclear reactor; U.S. appeasement fails

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

U.S. officials report today that North Korea has restarted its nuclear reactor at Yongbyon and could begin producing nuclear weapons in under a year.

This revelation comes only one day after Secretary of State Colin Powell declared that North Korea had made a “wise choice” for not starting the reactor or the reprocessing facility.

North Korea’s latest provocation is a slap in the face for the Bush Administration, which had previously ruled out sanctioning the North for its illegal nuclear weapons program and, on Tuesday, agreed to resume food aid to the communist state.

U.S. appeasement of North Korea has failed to temper its behavior and requires a reversal before North Korea is allowed to blackmail the west with its nuclear power or sell its weapons to terrorists.
