1993 Keeper of the Flame Award: Steve Forbes
At an elegant black-tie dinner on 28 October 1993 at Washington’s ANA Westin Hotel, the Center for Security Policy will host its fourth annual “Keeper of the Flame” award ceremonies in honor of Malcolm S. Forbes, Jr. This award is bestowed upon those who have made significant contributions to the defense of freedom both at home and abroad.
Joining the Center in honoring Steve Forbes will be over two hundred present and former senior government officials, foreign diplomats, top industrialists and members of the press. He will be introduced by former Secretary of Defense Caspar W. Weinberger, the Center’s first “Keeper of the Flame.” Both Messers. Weinberger and Forbes are expected to address contemporary U.S. foreign policy choices and challenges. Mr. Forbes’ many contributions to the national interest will also be recognized by former Presidents George Bush, Ronald Reagan, and Richard Nixon, Vice President Dan Quayle, former Secretary of State George Schultz and former Ambassador Jeane Kirkpatrick.
In addition to Secretary Weinberger, previous honorees have been World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov and Senator Malcolm Wallop (R-WY). Members of the press are invited to cover this event, which starts with a reception at 7:00 p.m.
