It’s an indictment of President Obama’s Mideast trip last week that its most tangible result was an apology that was unwarranted and will likely prove counterproductive.

Mr. Obama had pressed Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu to apologize to the President’s favorite foreign leader, Turkey’s Recep Erdogan.  This required Mr. Netanyahu to say he was sorry about the loss of life caused two years ago when Erdogan deliberately provoked a crisis by aiding Hamas, a terrorist group sworn to destroy the Jewish State.

Worse yet, the apology followed Islamist Erdogan’s recent denunciation of Zionism as a “crime against humanity.” He is also providing life-support to a regime in Iran that wants to “wipe Israel off the map.”  No good can come from appeasing such a foe –  either for Israel or for us.
