Secure Borders First

The hype behind so-called Comprehensive Immigration Reform continues to mount.  Much of it is fueled by speculation about what eight Senators – four Democrats and four Republicans – are cooking up behind closed doors.

A chilling insight was afforded over the weekend, however, by one of those Democratic Senators, Chuck Schumer of New York.  He declared that the group’s priority would be legalization first, border security second.  In other words, the millions of aliens already unlawfully here would be put on the “path to citizenship” immediately — and long before the path for more to come to America illegally is shut down.

Given this prospect, there has reportedly been of late a 500 percent increase in unlawful border crossings.  We must have secure borders before more incentives are offered to come to this country.
