Review Obama’s Record on Egypt

President Obama announced yesterday that he is reviewing America’s relationship with Egypt’s government in the wake of its crackdown on Muslim Brotherhood sympathizers.

What’s most urgently in need of review, however, is Team Obama’s own role in creating the conditions that led to the present crisis in Egypt.  By realigning U.S. policy with the Muslim Brotherhood, it emboldened and then empowered Islamists who are not only the enemies of freedom there.  They are our enemies, as well.

If Mr. Obama continues such behavior, he may well drive the Egyptian government into the arms of the Russians and Chinese – nations unfriendly to us but seen as far more reliable than we are under this administration.  If that happens, we have only begun to see the full costs of Team Obama’s mistakes.
