Over the past few days, Canada has been targeted by global jihadists. Two soldiers – one in Montreal, the other in Ottawa – were murdered in cold blood.

The second perpetrator went on to fire shots in the Canadian parliament on Wednesday. Providentially, he did not cross paths with Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who had been expected to introduce new – and more sweeping – counter-terrorism legislation there that very day.

Prime Minister Harper responded for all of us by declaring, “We will not be intimidated.” Every bit as important, however, is that we must recognize – on both sides of the border – the central role being played in these terrorist attacks by shariah, the Islamic supremacist code to which both of the assailants adhered.

Only by knowing our enemy will we be able to defeat them.
