The Agent of Change vs. The More-of-the Same Candidate

Last night’s second presidential debate was widely expected to be the death knell of Donald Trump’s campaign in the wake of a damaging video tape from eleven years ago. Instead, it showcased the reason why Mr. Trump is the Republican candidate, and why this race is far from over.

It comes down to this: Are Americans satisfied with the status quo and willing to accept more of the same? Or do they so badly want change that they are prepared to take a gamble on an agent of change – however flawed – rather than give the White House to someone, also flawed, who did much to bring them to the present pass, and who is likely to perpetuate it?

In repeatedly challenging Hillary Clinton’s empty “talk” about change, Donald Trump underscored the reality that this may be the last chance for America to chart a fundamentally different course.

Will they seize it?
