Senator Dianne Feinstein’s colleagues are eulogizing her decades of path-breaking public service and admirable personal qualities. Unsurprisingly, no mention has been made of one serious defect.

The Chinese Communists call it “elite capture.” She was instrumental in getting China into the World Trade Organization. Her husband got rich doing deals with the PRC. And for a decade her state office manager was a Chinese spy.

In his tribute on the Senate floor Friday, another senior legislator enriched by the Chinese Communist Party, Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, reminisced about regular dinners with the Feinsteins and his wife, former Cabinet member Elaine Chao. One wonders: Did they discuss China?

Our book, The Indictment, warns that – especially at a moment when the CCP is preparing for a shooting war – we must stop being led by elites it has captured. One has departed, many to go.
